Diocesan Advisory Committee Information
The realisation that a faculty will be required in order to carry out the work that your PCC are planning, is often met with a groan or a sense of hopelessness. Whilst the process of obtaining a faculty can seem long winded and bureaucratic, we need to remember that
-
it is there with the intention of preserving our churches history and integrity, and
-
the process is similar to local council planning applications, in that it gives the experts and other people affected by any planned changes, the opportunity to have their say.
The Diocesan Website now offers useful advice about where to start and how to proceed to obtain a faculty. There is a guide available to download - "Why a Faculty - A Layman's Guide". Also included are links to download an Application Form, Form of Questions and Guidance notes, as well as links to English Heritage, SPAB, the Georgian Group and the Victorian Society.
